Patient & Hospital Safety

Smoking Policy

Smoking is not permitted within 25 feet of the building, unless in designated smoking areas.

Nurse Call System

Each room has a nurse call system, connecting the patient with the Nurses' Station. Patients may signal for assistance by pressing a button on their pillow speaker, and assistance will be summoned.

Patient Safety

Bedside rails are installed for patient safety. If a patient requires the rails to be moved, they must ask nursing personnel for assistnace.

Walking privileges are given only by the patient's physician. If granted, the patient should use caution and call nursing for assistance if it is necessary. Patients must notify the Nurses' Station when leaving their room.

No electrical equipment from home may be used in the hospital until approved for safety by the Maintenance Department.

Fire and Disaster Drills

Fire and disaster drills may be executed in the hospital at any time. Patients should not be alarmed if they hear or see evidence of such a practice drill.

Cell Phone and Camera Policy

Cellular telephones, video cameras, and cameras are not permitted within Deckerville Community Hospital.
